We haven’t really touched on the Jezebel commenter-run blogs (we keep trying to write that without having vomit come up into our mouths), The Pursuit of Harpyness and Buttercup Punch, because like almost everyone, we aren’t regular readers of these blogs. They are kind of part of the “sad” section of the lady-written internet. And yet, they both exemplify what is wrong with Jezebel: Harpyness is the “serious” blog that looks like it was designed for a Renaissance Faire webring and is mostly full of unintelligent women trying desparently to be intelligent feminists. Buttercup is supposed to be the funny, “cool kids” blog written by unfunny and never-were-cool women who think that blogging about sex makes them edgy.
Okay, whatever some women wanted to start their own blogs, is that so bad? No, it isn’t, there are plenty of poorly written, unfunny blogs out there. But do they have to make their love/hate relationship with Jezebel the themes of their blogs?
We realize that this all sounds hypocritical (duh) but we here at STFU Jezebel don’t take ourselves too seriously, unlike these women. Also, it is our job to mock the commenters so we kind of have to write about how lame these sites are.
